Did you miss me? I'm sorry I didn't post last week! I made a whirlwind trip to San Antonio for Leadership and Regionals. I am soooooo glad I went and I brought back tons of ideas to share with you!

UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge

WOW! We are halfway through January already!!!! This time of year just seems to fly! We have stamp camp tomorrow and I am looking forward to starting off my Stamping year!!! I had a lot of fun with this week's sketch. I used the new Hearts Collection Framelits Dies in a new way!!! So, on to the sketch:

And here's what I did with it (I took some liberties and put my sentiment in a different spot, will you forgive me?)

Supplies:

Stamps: Take it to Heart, Heard from the Heart (used in MDS and manipulated to be a vertical greeting)
Ink: Riding Hood Red
Cardstock: Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, Whisper White, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Lattice Embossing Folder, White Taffeta Ribbon, Hearts Collection Framelits Dies

A couple of things I did on this card. I started at the top of a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of DSP and placed the smallest heart die close to the right hand side. I made a sandwich using the multi-use platform, a cutting plate, then my DSP and the framelit die cutting side down against the DSP. I turned the DSP and the die sideways so that I could put the top cutting plate over just half of the heart. I repeated this five times being careful to line the hearts up. When I was done, I folded the DSP so the hearts popped out to the side.

The other thing I did was make my own waffle ribbon. I took a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock and ran it through the lattice embossing folder then trimmed it to 3/8" which fit right on top of the white taffeta ribbon and allowed just the very edges of the white to show. Pretty cool, huh?

For this week's sketch we were to create a background with a repeated image. I wanted to use one of our new Occasions sets to give you a sneak peek of what you can order beginning January 4th!!!

The framelits were used to cut out the heart on the front of the card. These are a wonderful new accessory making their premier in the Occasions Mini Catalog beginning January 4th. Saturday Sketch Challenge 12/10

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!! We had our office Christmas Party last night at Grace in Ft. Worth. It is the most beautiful restaurant and we had a private room. It was soooo much fun and the food was the best!!!! It's finally getting cold here and I am back among the living after a week of an awful attack of what we call "Cedar Fever" (from the people down Austin way). I am terribly allergic to cedar and this time of year with all the live trees out I always get an awful sinus infection!!! Three days in my jammies (one with no cable because our backyard neighbors decided to disconnect us and connect themselves!!!) and I am feeling much better! Today we have rehearsal for our church choir's annual presentation of the Christmas portion of Handel's Messiah. We will perform it Sunday evening at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church on Camp Bowie in Ft. Worth at 7pm. If you love classical music I invite you to attend!!!!! This card was done entirely with a base of Cherry Cobbler cardstock and paper and embellishments from the Christmas Lane Simply Scrappin' Kit from the Holiday Mini. It's a quick and easy card which is the best kind of Christmas Card! I hope you enjoy!

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving!!!! We drove to Oklahoma City to visit DH's sister and her family and got to see our newest great nephew! He is the first grandchild between my DH and his two sisters and he is adorable!!! We are so thankful for family!

So, to me today starts the Christmas Season, carols will be playing on the radio, people were out in droves today shopping (and I was NOT one of them LOL!) and it's time to get out the decorations and put up the tree.

HAPPY WORLD CARDMAKING DAY!!!!! I am celebrating with restarting Technique Classes tomorrow! Everyone was travelling so much and with my sister's Chemo this summer, they got put on hold. But we'll be starting off with a bang tomorrow! I used one of the techniques we'll be learning tomorrow on my card for today.

UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge 9/24

Ever since I saw the sketch for today, I knew this had to be the card! I got this cute download called "Spook Central" for MDS last month and I love the papers and embellishments included with it. The only thing is that the letters that come with it are limited as they are supposed to spell out Spook Central so since there's no "Y", I had to get creative! I think you get the drift LOL!

Pumpkin Witch in Disguise!

We made this little pumpkin Sunday at Stamp Camp. I saw these pumpkins in the store and knew that Many Mustaches needed to be used with them. What do you think?

I found a witch hat pattern for the cone of the hat and used the large scallop from the Scallop Circle #2 die. The eyes are made from the 1/2" circle punch and the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes punch pack, the eyelashes are from the Boho Blossoms punch. I hope you enjoy!!!!

Rain!!! We have rain!!!!! I made my card last night to the sound of wonderful, soaking rain. We have SO needed that here. Hopefully, this will help prevent more of the fires we have been having.

Saturday Sketch Challenge 9/10

It's that time of the week!! Time for the Utah Divas Sketch Challenge! You can see sketch and links to the rest of the designers over at the UDI blog. Can I just say, I LOVE this week's sketch????????? I had so much fun making this card. I learned a new punch technique from the blog Butternut Sage, it's used thread the black and white ribbon through. Yes, that is a punch and no, it's not punched all the way through the paper!!!

I was going to link to the video but it's gone so I'll try to explain it. You just turn your punch upside down and insert your cardstock/paper. Press very carefully and you will hear it click and then click again and it will have punched the outside edges. Apply VERY GENTLE pressure until it punches the desired length. You'll have to push the paper back down to slide it out of the punch, then just lift each side and slide the ribbon under!!! How cool is that??????

Saturday Sketch Challenge 9/3

OMG! It's September!!!! Where are my Christmas cards?????????? Gotta get started soon! I'll be having some fun classes to capture the memories of the school year, fall decorating, gifts and giving and and fun class after the holidays to make sure you know exactly where your cards are!

Now on to this week's sketch. Since our beloved Carol is no longer doing the sketches, we have all decided to take a month each to be responsible for the sketches. Leading the pack is Tammy Fite with this sketch:

I also want to send out prayers for all the people effected by the fires in Palo Pinto County and in Oklahoma City. My husband's sister and her family escaped with just losing the fence in their neighborhood but hot spots kept flaring up, caught their neighbor's attic on fire and completely destroyed it. SIL is a teacher and four of her students lost their homes completely. I hope you all have a safe weekend!!!!!!

Sister is finally out of the hospital! We are so glad to have her home after a week and a half of back and forth to the hospital.

This week is Convention week for American and Canadian Stampin' Up! Demos. It is a week full of excitment, previews of new product and free stamps and product!!!!! Most of all, it is a chance to connect with friends we spend most of our time with online. These friends are treasured!!!! Since I did not go to Convention this year so I could be at home with my sister, my friends done some truly awesome things, from making sure I still get swaps to carrying Flat Ruthie and Flat Fay (my sister) all over Convention. Some of the pictures they have taken are really funny and I love them all for making me feel so special! So here's to you, my friends!

I miss you roomies (Sue, Selene and Michelle)!!!!! But save my spot, I'll be there next year!

Each was my favorite in different ways. Of course, Mama's house had the lure of the lake. It's located in Lakehills, Texas in the Hill Country outside of San Antonio. The lake is Medina Lake. Well, my sister had her second surgery for Breast Cancer yesterday and did pretty well. She will now be facing Chemo treatments for the next few months. Thank you to all of you who have sent well wishes for her!

Our nephew, Will and his wife, Lindsey had a precious baby boy on Wednesday and this is to welcome him!!

This week, I hope you will keep my Sister in your prayers, we found out this week she will have to have additional surgery as they did find some cancer in her lymph nodes. It is Stage 2, so this surgery should make sure it doesn't spread. She'll also be looking at five to six months of Chemo. We have faith that God will see her through this!!!!

Thank you for all the prayers and good thoughts for my sister. She had her surgery yesterday and had NO lymph node involvement so we are hoping she will not have to undergo Chemo treatments.

I'm using the Hope and Strength Set for my Saturday Sketch Challenge this week. This set is dedicated to Breast Cancer Research and for every one of these sets sold, Stampin' Up! donates $2 to a Breast Cancer Foundation. This set is in the current Mini Catalog. I'm using this set because it has special meaning this week. Unfortunately, my sister was diagnosed with Breast Cancer this past Wednesday and will be having surgery next week. I hope you will keep her in your prayers this coming week!

I have a summer cold that has turned bad on me so no post this Saturday. I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day. This week's My Digital Studio challenge for Utah Divas International was to create a card using a cupcake. This was sooooooo easy! Did you know that My Digital Studio has some cards already made for you? That's right, all you have to do is add your sentiment and send it on it's way to the printer!!!! AND you can personalize the inside front of the card as well as the side where the sentiment goes! For my card today, I used one of the pre-designed Birthday Cards and just added the cupcake, how easy is that? You can see what the rest of the Designers did HERE.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! It was a great weekend here and we got some much needed rain! We are near the part of Texas that has been ravaged by wildfires over the past couple of weeks so it was a real blessing! This week for MDS Monday we were to create an Easter project. What a beautiful weekend we are having! We are blessed to have my 21 month old great nephew staying with us over Spring Break this coming week. He is so sweet and makes us laugh! The other day, I sneezed and this little tiny voice said "Bless you!", how sweet is that!!! MDS Monday 3/7

Welcome to MDS Monday!!!! This week's challenge from our fearless leader, Brandy, over at the UDI Blog is to use punches on our My Digital Studio project. Here's what I did:

This is a 6x6 card. I am really loving So Saffron and Basic Grey together. Punches used: Butterfly punch filled with Designer Series Paper (DSP), Scallop edge punch and Square punch. The cool thing about using punches is that you can alter their shapes and then fill them with "paper". I did this is two places with the Square punch: the background paper is a filled square punch and the light colored rectangle behind the butterflies is the square punch formed into a rectangle. Pretty great, huh??? I liked it so much that I created a Thank you card as well! Here it is:

On this one I stretched the squre into a rectangle and filled it with DSP then I filled the Butterfly punch with the same DSP. Hope you enjoy!!!!

Hi there! It's been a wonderful week here weather-wise! With today's sketch I wanted to show you how versatile our Designer Series Paper is. I apologize in advance, because I didn't realize this paper is retired until after I already had the card done. This is a Christmas paper we had in the Holiday Mini called Deck the Halls. I have used the "non-Christmas" side of the paper for this card and you can't even tell it was supposed to be Christmasy (is that a word?????) We have finally thawed out here in Fort Worth! I'm so glad! This week's sketch has endless possibilities and I can't wait to see what the rest of the team has done!!!! Ice, Ice, Ice, Snow! What a week! I know that all you people North of Texas don't understand but we are just not equipped for this. I can drive on snow, no problem but Ice is another story. Luckily, I work for a wonderful company that allowed us to stay safely at home and do what work we could. Isn't that awesome?????

After today, Christmas will officially be over. We are having a belated Christmas with Ralph's family and it is always a wonderful time! We eat, open our presents and then dress up all the puppies ( they have Dachsunds that are adorable) and take pictures! What fun!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!!!! I hope you are all having a wonderful day! We had the nicest Christmas Eve! We usually go to church but it was cold and rainy and with Mother just home from the Hospital (yes she spent ANOTHER week in the hospital!) we didn't want to chance it. We baked and I finished up some last minute gifts and before Mother went to bed, we turned down the lights and Ralph read the King James version of the Christmas story. After that we had a short prayer and we sang Silent Night. It was soooo sweet and very special.

Hi all! This week has been really good! Mother is getting better every day!!! Today, I am at rehearsals for Handel's Messiah. My church is performing it tomorrow night at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church on Camp Bowie Blvd in Fort Worth. If you have never heard this work, and even if you have, I invite you to come. It is a wonderful work and always makes my Christmas!

I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We surprised our family gathering with a special "package". We got to bring Mother home for the day to be with family. It was a great day and she did really well. She was really tired when we took her back, but it was a good tired. Hopefully, we'll have her home for good in the next couple of weeks.

Saturday Sketch Challenge 11/6

This will be short and sweet. I'm off to the Hospital with Mother again. Bless her heart!!!! We're trying to avoid her getting as sick as she did last time. All prayers are appreciated!!!

As always, you can see this week's sketch over at the UDI Blog. Stampin' Up! has an awesome Papercrafting Software called My Digital Studio. Not only does it make digital scrapbooking a breeze but we now are offering calendars with easel backs making them great for your desk and journals that you design the cover for!!!! One of the great things about this software is ability to get our Designer Papers and stamps digitally. I had a hostess request to use Bells and Boughs at her workshop. I didn't have that set but it was available as a Digital Download so I printed the image out, colored it with markers, added some Shimmer Paint and, voila!, a hybrid card!!!!! I even printed out the Designer Paper!

Saturday Sketch Challenge 10/30

It's been a great week!!! My sister is almost completely recovered from her surgeries AND we were able to move Mother to a Skilled Nursing Unit for a couple of weeks rehab. After that, she'll get to come home!!!!! She had a great time today, the facility had a Halloween party. For physical therapy, they had to throw rings around Witch's Hats and then someone painted a cat on her face and put a rub on tattoo bracelet on her!! They also played Halloween bingo! I'm going to have to watch out, or she won't want to come home because she's having too much fun! LOL!

Oh my! Where is time going? Already almost Halloween?????? Thank you all so much for your kind words and prayers for my mom and my sister! My sister is almost completely recovered from her surgeries and my mom is getting better every day. She is still in the hospital and since I am working part-time and my sister can't lift anything, Mother will go to a Skilled Nursing Unit for a couple of weeks to regain her strength. I'm hoping we can get her home by mid-November.

Prayers for Ruthie's Mom

To those of you following my blog, thank you for stopping by today. I didn't have a post last weekbecause I was at the hospital with my mom AND my sister. My sister is home but Mother had to be readmitted this week and is in ICU, so I am here at the hospital with her. She is out of the woods but she is still very sick. I hope you will keep her and my sister in your prayers as they work toward being healthy again.

I will be glad to see an end to September! I should not have bragged that my Mom and Sister were both home from the hospital. Wednesday, we had to call 911 for my sister and she ended up having to have ANOTHER emergency surgery!!!! Totally unrelated to her last surgery. Can you believe?????? She was supposed to come home tonight but they told us after I got to the hospital to pick her up that she had to wait another day. Oh well, maybe tomorrow!

On to this weeks sketch! Oh, the possibilities! I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw this sketch. At our SU convention, I saw some gorgeous white on white cards and thought one would be perfect for this sketch. OMG! We had soooo much fun at Regionals in Ft. Worth last weekend! We saw some awesome projects, stamped some fun projects and got FREE STAMPS!!!!! What could be better? Well......my Sister and my Mom were both in the hospital this week and now they are both home!!!! Woo hoo!

Supplies:

STAMPS: Elements of Style, Paisley Prints, Paisley Party SA Wheel
CARDSTOCK: Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla
INKS: Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Night of Navy, Versamark
ACCESSORIES: Clear Embossing Powder

This is a very simple project. Ink the wheel with Versamark and roll it across the Very Vanilla Cardstock. Ink the leaf from Paisley Prints and the "For You" stamp from Elements of Style with Versamark and stamp on Very Vanilla Cardstock. Heat emboss with clear embossing powder. On the wheeled image, use sponges and randomly sponge the inks on. On the leaf image and the "For You" image, use daubers to apply the ink. Sponge More Mustard ink around the leaf. Easy Peasy!!!!

She has been released BUT they sent her to a rehab facility so she could continue to get IV antibiotics. She'll be there for SIX WEEKS with no computer, no cable. I feel soooo bad for her!!!! Saturday Sketch Challenge 8/28

What a day!!! My poor sister has had the worst luck with her health! On Monday, we took her to the Dr. because she had been running a really high fever all weekend (103 - 104). He thought it was just a virus but on Tuesday she continued to run the fevers and developed a rash that was moving up her leg. It turns out she had cellulitis and it effected her knee replacement so they had to go in and do emergency surgery this afternoon. They were able to save the knee replacement so she won't have to undergo another surgery to replace that after the cellulitis is cleared up. Praise God!!!!!

Saturday Sketch Challenge 8/14

Happy Saturday!!!! When the Simply Adorned jewelry line from Stampin' Up! was introduced last year, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because of the chain. Boy was I wrong!!!! At our Stampin' Up! Convention this year, we had a contest for designing these and our UDI Friend, Barbara Dykehouse won for the most creative (scroll down in the post I linked to to see her winning entry)!!!!!! The chain on this is nice and heavy with a wonderful toggle clasp and the charm hooks on very securely with a lobster claw clasp! You can change the inserts out with ease, I am in love!!!! Look for a class in November to make an insert for each month!!!!

Debbie requested that we learn how to make Pansies out of the SU Butterfly Punch so this is one of the projects we will be doing at Technique Class this coming Friday. Only three more sleeps then I'm off to Stampin' Up!'s annual convention!!!! I am soooo excited. Through different internet groups I have been able to meet Demonstrators from all over the world. While only the demos from the US and Canada will be at this convention, it is so exciting to talk "In person" with people you have only met online! I'll come back with all sorts of samples and ideas just waiting to be passed on TO YOU!!!!

Today, I have a guest stamper! My neice, Nae, was over today and she wanted to make a Birthday card. She loved today's sketch, so I told her she could be my guest this week!!! She is 12 and in six more years I'm going to recruit her LOL!

Only one more week till I head for Salt Lake City!!!! So I've been thinking about swaps...... guess I'd better get them all finished. So we have a Sizzlets Decorative Strip Die called "Join the Cheer". I feel that is is really meant as a title for a scrapbook page but I thought it would be fun to cut it up and use it a different way. I'm always seeing people asking for ideas for cheerleaders so I thought this would be a cute, simple card for this.

Hi everyone!!!! I'm back after a hectic week! Mother was in the hospital last weekend and we brought her home on Monday. She's feeling much better!!! Thank you to everyone who asked about her!

I can't go any further without taking time to thank all our Troops on this Fourth of July weekend! You are so appreciated!

I just got the new Father's Day Download from Stampin' Up! for MDS!!! I just love using these for seasonal things like this. Both my Daddy and my Father-In-Law are no longer with us and most of my customers are the same way. It is so great to be able to download this set since I will not use it that often. This could be a great masculine birthday card, though!
