Saturday Sketch Challenge 12/26

Oh what a wonderful WHITE CHRISTMAS we had!!!! The first real one I have ever seen in Texas and only the second in my life! We've had snow flurries and dusting but never anything like this. We even built a Snowman in our front yard. It was a really fun day with family in and out of the house. So, my card is a tribute to our Snow Day! You can see the sketch over and UDI and check out what the rest of the Design Team has done. Our Surprise for this sketch was to use our favorite colors. My favorite color is Yellow but I didn't want yellow snow, don't ya know, so I used my second favorite, blue!
Supplies:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Snowflake punch, Ice rhinestone brads
Have a wonderful week!!!!!

Saturday Sketch Challenge 10/31

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!!!

Since I saw a couple of Christmas Trees up today, I decided to do a Christmas Card for the UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge. You can see the sketch here on the UDI Blog and links to all the other members who participate weekly in this challenge. But don't think that doesn't mean you can't participate as well. Feel free to give us your take on this challenge!!!!!

Our Special Challenge this week was to use the Big Shot with our layout. I thought it would be fun to do a window card with the Movers and Shapers Die. I used the Stampin' Up! Holiday Window Dies for the shape and it cut through all four layers of the front of the card!!! How cool is that! Here's the card!

Supplies:

Stamps: Delightful Decorations

Cardstock: Real Red (I know, it looks a little orange here but it really is!), Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper

Ink: Real Red

Saturday Sketch Challenge 10/24

I am working on my Certification for MDS and this is the card I did today for that. I so love this. Now, nothing takes the place of the feel of a wood stamp in my hand but this is an awesome planning tool and if I print a lot of these cards and people throw them away after Christmas, my feelings would not be hurt so bad! So, here it is!!!!!!!!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!

Saturday Sketch Challenge 7/4

Wow! Three weeks since I posted??!!!! I have been sick, sick, sick with a sinus/upper respiratory infection. I got it the last day we did Music Man and am just now feeling better. Music Man was sooooo much fun!!!! Today I had my Technique Class and we had a blast!!!

Before I get to this week's sketch I want to say Thank You to everyone who serves to protect our freedom. Thank you for serving and thank you families of servicemen and servicewomen for your sacrifices as well!

So, on to this week's Sketch which you can see here:

It's Red, White and Blue oriental style!!!! I fell in love with this little girl when I saw Gretchen post it and had to make one. So I took Maria's inspiration challenge, LNS Weekly Challenge and Alicia's Sketch Challenge and rolled them all into one!

Supplies:

Stamp Set: NONE

Cardstock: Real Red, Night of Navy, Blush Blossom, Basic Black and Pink Flamingo DSP

Ink: Going Grey

Accessories: Large Oval Punch, 3/4" round punch.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Sketch Challenge Saturday 6-13 (and 6/6)

Well, I never did get last week's sketch posted so you get a two-fer this week! First, this week's sketch which can be seen here.

Supplies:

Stamps: Simply Said

Cardstock: Raspberry Tart DSP, Chocolate Chip, Confetti Cream

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Rose Red

Accessories: Fiskars Cutter (for scoring), Sanding Block, Vintage Brads, 5/8" Chocolate Chip Ribbon

The technique on the DSP is really fun (thank you to whoever originally posted this). You score the diamonds on the paper, then fold along each score line and sand till it's white. After that, you apply ink to the sanded fold. Really cool huh?

Okay, now for last week's sketch:

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Fifth Avenue Floral

Cardstock: Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Shimmer White

Inks: Chocolate Chip Craft, Chocolate Chip Marker and Tangerine Tango and Summer Sun reinkers

Accessories: Clear EP. Tangerine Tango Striped ribbon, Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain, Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates for Big Shot.

Again, I got the idea of putting little dots in the corner of each diamond from someone on the net. I love the way it makes it look kind of like a lattice. The technique for the flower is the popular Floating Reinkers.

So, what else have I been doing lately???? Well, I'm very excited to announce that I am teaching two classes at the Grapevine Stamp Convention in July!!!!!! One is called Texas Fold 'Em and will feature cards with fancy folds and a couple of folded embellishments. The other is a Basics class for people new to stamping. If you are in the area, I hope you'll come and take these. You can register online through http://www.heirloompro.com/

The other really fun thing I'm doing is playing Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn in "Music Man"! We are peforming it at our church this coming weekend. It's at Arlington Heights United Methodist Church in Fort Worth this coming Friday, Saturday evenings and a matinee on Sunday! Contact me for ticket info!!!!!

TTFN!!!!! Have a great weekend!

UDI Sketch Challenge 5/16

I had so much fun with this card! Here's a picture of the outside:

And I made the inside a gift card holder ('cept I put cash in it).

You can't tell very well from the picture but the hat pops up. I used the top layer of the cake die for it. I learned that if you put a piece of cardstock larger than the circle, you can't put the piece of designer paper around the bottom unless you cut slots in the side for the top to slide into.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your day. We will be travelling to Oklahoma City to attend my nephew's Graduation. It will be really good to spend the day with Ralph's sisters and their families.

Lining Stamped Images up with Matchbox Die

I've read a post over at Stampin' Addicts trying to figure out the best way to get stamped images lined up on the labels cut from the Matchbox Die. I was reading this again tonight and inspiration hit. I took the cardboard that came with the die and cut it to 2 1/4" x 7", placed it over the labels section and ran it through the Big Shot . Next I stamped the image, cut the cardstock down and taped it to the cardboard template centering it in the cutout , then I ran it through and voila, not perfect because I didn't tape all four sides but you get the idea. Here's some pics:

Hope this helps you!

UDI Sketch Challenge 5/2

It's a rainy day here in North Texas. I was supposed to do a craft show today but it has been postponed due to the Swine Flu outbreak. They are being very cautious about this. BUT, since the craft show was postponed I'm off to our first rehearsal of our Church Summer Musical, Music Man. We are very lucky to have a Tony Award Winning Producer, Mike Skipper as a member of our congregation and he has agreed to direct it. I know it will be great. I am playing Eulalie (the Mayor's wife of Grecian Urn fame).

Oh, I bet you want to see my creation for the challenge, huh? Well, here it is! You can see the sketch (which I altered a little) and what everyone else has done here on the UDI Blog.

Okay, it keeps loading it sideways and it's not saved like that, but you get the idea. This is actually an altered CD! I thought it was fun how the exposed CD is bright and Shiny for the "clean" side.

Here's the supplies:

Sizzix Naturally Serif die, CD, Bella Rose Paper, Crimper, Sticky Strip, Pretties kit, Clear buttons, Hemp, Scallop edge punch

I learned how to make the scallop trim from someon's blog (can't remember who, but thank you!). It's very easy, just cut a 1" strip of DSP and punch along the edge with the Scallop Edge Punch. Run this strip through your crimper. I then trimmed it to about 1/2". The crimping of it allows it to be flexible and it will tape down beautifully!

Have a great weekend!!!!
