Saturday Sketch Challenge 3/3

Another week has flown by and it's time for another UDI Sketch Challenge!!!  This week is week two of Mother being in the Hospital and they moved her to a Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) facility for continued IV therapy and some physical therapy for a couple of weeks to get her strong enough to come home.  She's in great spirits and doing very well.  Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes!

So now on to this week's sketch:

UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge 2/25

Whew!  Am I glad this week is over.  My sister and I have been at the hospital all week with Mother.  We had to send her by ambulance last Sunday night with chest pains.  After ruling out her heart, they did more tests and finally, today, they found the problem.  Now that they have found it, they can start the right medicine and she'll be back on her feet.  Thank you for all of you who have sent prayers and good wishes!!!!!

So on to today's sketch!  For such a simple looking sketch, this was one of the harder ones for me.  How long should my rectangles be?  Should I use a circle as in the sketch or should I use a square?  Should I use one of the new Framelits?  So much to choose from.  But then, sitting in plain view in my Designer Series Paper rack was Petals and Paisleys looking neglected, soooooo........  I had to use it.  Here's the sketch:

DIVASC177 - Feb 25
and here's my card:

Supplies:

Cardstock:  Marina Mist, Whisper White, Petals and Paisleys Designer Series paper
Accessories:  Frost White Shimmer Paint, Stampin' Sponge, Stampin' Dimensionals

I didn't want just the flat white cardstock on this so I took a Stampin' Sponge and dabbed in in some of the Shimmer Paint and then scrubbed it on in a circular motion.  I applied it to the Designer Series Paper as well to give the whole thing a shimmery look!

I hope you all have a great weekend!!!

UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge 2/11

What a great week this has been!  And a perfect way to end it is with a sketch for the UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge!!!!

Here's the sketch:

DIVASC175 - Feb 11

And here's my card:

Supplies:

Stamps:  Fresh Vintage
Ink:  Versamark, Blushing Bride
Cardstock:  Blushing Bride, Lucky Limeade, Twitterpated Designer Series Paper
Accessories:  Lucky Limeade Ruffled Ribbon, 5/8" White Satin Ribbon, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch, White Embossing Powder, 1" Square Punch, 1 1/4" Square Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

I did a couple of different things on this.  I didn't like the stark white of the background on the Designer Series Paper so I randomly sponged it with Blushing Bride ink.  For the ribbon element I first place the white ribbon down and then cut the Lucky Limeade ribbon in half lengthwise to make it appear wider and then I layered the Dotted Ribbon punched piece of Blushing Bride on top.

Have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to check out what all the other Designers have done over at the UDI Blog.

UDI Saturday Sketch Challenge

WOW!  We are halfway through January already!!!!  This time of year just seems to fly!   We have stamp camp tomorrow and I am looking forward to starting off my Stamping year!!!  I had a lot of fun with this week's sketch.  I used the new Hearts Collection Framelits Dies in a new way!!!  So, on to the sketch:

DIVASC171 - Jan 14

And here's what I did with it (I took some liberties and put my sentiment in a different spot, will you forgive me?)

RuthieB171

Supplies:

Stamps:  Take it to Heart, Heard from the Heart (used in MDS and manipulated to be a vertical greeting)
Ink:  Riding Hood Red
Cardstock:  Twitterpated Designer Series Paper, Whisper White, Riding Hood Red
Accessories:  Lattice Embossing Folder, White Taffeta Ribbon, Hearts Collection Framelits Dies

A couple of things I did on this card.  I started at the top of a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of DSP and placed the smallest heart die close to the right hand side.  I made a sandwich using the multi-use platform, a cutting plate, then my DSP and  the framelit die cutting side down against the DSP.  I turned the DSP and the die sideways so that I could put the top cutting plate over just half of the heart.  I repeated this five times being careful to line the hearts up.  When I was done, I folded the DSP so the hearts popped out to the side.

The other thing I did was make my own waffle ribbon.  I took a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock and ran it through the lattice embossing folder then trimmed it to 3/8" which fit right on top of the white taffeta ribbon and allowed just the very edges of the white to show.  Pretty cool, huh?

Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Martin Luther King day on Monday!!!!
